"There is no noise in the world. There is no peace in the Himalayas. Both are within you." Satyananda Saraswati "Do not cringe and make yourself small if you are called the black sheep, the maverick, the lone wolf...Being different means standing on the edge...When seeking guidance, don't ever listen to the tiny-hearted. Be kind to them, heap them with blessings, but do not follow their advice." Clarissa Pinkola Estes "People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long course of rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars; and they pass by themselves without wondering". St. Augustine.
Our greatest spiritual challenges generally arise from our most intense relationships. When it comes to the sticky, complex, endlessly changing and challenging task of getting along with others, we are pulled into self-reflection again and again. What is right? Am I being selfish? Can I be a bit more patient? How can I honor the needs of all involved? Our most difficult relationships drive us crazy because they hit us in our sorest spots. They are heaven sent, for they push us to keep stretching our hearts and spirits, and lead us to the most profound blessings of wisdom, compassion and understanding.
