The Hazel Da Breo Academy for Taekwondo & Martial Art Philosophy: a Division of the Young Su Choung Taekwondo Academy. This Academy for Taekwondo and Martial Art Philosophy offers a two-part course of study; the practical and the theoretical. The Taekwondo school is located in Westerhall, St. David’s, Grenada, while the school of Philosophy offers distance programs along with a residence component. The parent school of this Academy, the Young Su Choung Taekwondo Academy, is located on 44 Vaughan Road in Toronto, Canada. All aspects of the training and management of the Hazel Da Breo Academy reflect the principles and teachings of Grandmaster Young Su Choung. Students of the Taekwondo Academy will attend class once weekly, and practice a full martial arts training program comprising: Colour-belt testing is conducted at 4-month intervals and will be supervised by Hazel. All black-belt testing will be conducted by Grandmaster Young Su Choung, either at Westerhall or in Toronto. Students who are active members either of Hazel’s school, Grandmaster Young Su Choung’s Headquarters, or another Branch of Young Choung Taekwondo, may apply for study in Martial Art Philosophy. If an applicant is not a practicing member of either of these schools, they may yet qualify for admission if they present a written letter of recommendation from a senior, recognized student of any branch of the Young Su Choung Academy. No student will be admitted who is not a committed practitioner of a martial art. All applicants must provide a 2-page Letter of Intention. This course is 10 months in duration and is offered as a distance program with 2 required weeks of residency. 1 week must be spent with Hazel in person (either in Grenada or in Toronto), while the 2nd may be spent with Grandmaster Young Su Choung (in Grenada or Toronto). The final oral examination must be conducted by Grandmaster Young Su Choung. The components of this course are as follows: - An introduction to the philosophy of the martial arts. The Reading List includes a minimum of 6 (six) texts. These texts cover such areas as Eastern Philosophy, Sports Psychology, the science and theory of Meditation and the application of martial art to mental health.
- Further analysis of the martial arts, by means of at least 1 film, 1 piece of music, and the work of 1 visual artist.
- Assignments include a 2-page review of each text, film, painting or music studied.
- A daily journal, focused on a concentrated meditation practice.
- A verifiable record of a minimum of 2 weeks (80 hours) in the volunteer service of humanity.
- A final oral exam. Please note that a “pass” or “revision recommended” result of the oral exam is at the entire discretion of Grandmaster Young Su Choung or his delegate.

Master Choung is an 8th degree black belt who holds numerous executive Taekwondo positions and has achieved many awards for his dedication towards Taekwondo. Some positions held include: Chairman of WTF Canada's coaching committee, High-performance coach's mentor (National Coaching Institute), and Technical Advisor to the Canadian Military Taekwondo Team, as well as being the National Team Head Coach for Canada, and the Olympic Coach in 1988, and 1992.
